Good News and Good Deeds Go Together
Local Outreach is responsible for mobilizing the people of Christian Fellowship Church to serve locally and to build bridges to our community through compassion work. We offer service opportunities that allow our congregation to experience serving here in Loudoun County by partnering with local organizations in order to come alongside and meet the needs of the individual and/or the community.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. -- Mark 10:4

Our local outreach efforts include the following priority areas:
School Partnerships - we are partnering fully with Sterling Elementary School and Sully Elementary School as our focus schools. This is because both of these schools are Title 1 schools which means that over 50% of the school population qualify for free or reduced lunch.
We also work in partnership with the Parent Liaisons and other officials of the following local schools:
Trailside Middle School - https://www.lcps.org/trailside
Farmwell Station Middle School - https://www.lcps.org/farmwell
Stone Bridge High School - https://www.lcps.org/sbhs

Operation Homefront - We, here at Christian Fellowship Church, have a true heart for the military and their families. We engage in year-round of the support of Operation Homefront and their local efforts in serving the families in the Metro DC area and beyond.
Work Projects - We serve by accomplishing a variety of home repairs and improvements both inside and outside of local homes. Painting, repairing, replacing, landscaping, mulching, home maintenance, minor electrical work, and more will be included in the tasks. You do not need to attend CFC to be a candidate to receive such help.
Jail/Prison Ministry - One of Jesus' mandates in Mathew 25 was to 'visit those in prison'. This ministry manifests in annual Christmas gifts to the children of incarcerated persons who live in Loudoun County; quarterly fellowship events sponsored by CFC Local Outreach; and mentoring of children; women-to-women and men-to-men discipleship prior to; just after; and for an extended period after their release. We have established the following ideals/standards for every family we have the privilege of walking thru this journey with: 1: Attending a local bible preaching, bible teaching church regularly; 2: Positive, spiritually-based, self-esteem/self-respect and identity in Christ; 3: Strong work ethic; 4: Financial integrity; 5: Quality/effective parenting skills; 6: Affirming interpersonal relationships; 7:Appropriate godly relationships and healthy marriage.
Mentors Needed to Support Ministry with Loudoun Christian Justice Mission (LCJM) - The LCJM provides spiritual support to residents of the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and has recently launched an effort to help returning citizens achieve a successful re-entry back into the community. CFC is partnering with the LCJM to provide mentors to work one-on-one with men and women who are completing their sentences and who are seeking Christian mentors to encourage lifestyle changes and accountability. Training is provided. For further information or to express an interest, please contact Roger Menzel at Roger Menzel ramenzel@verizon.net or you may contact Mike Trivett, CFC Director of Outreach mtrivett@cfcwired.org.
Prayer for Justice and Mercy: Jesus, united with the Father and the Holy Spirit, give us your compassion for those in prison. Mend in mercy the broken in mind and memory. Soften the hard of heart, the captives of anger. Free the innocent; parole the trustworthy. Awaken the repentance that restores hope. May prisoners’ families persevere in their love. Jesus, heal the victims of crime; they live with the scars. Lift to eternal peace those who die. Grant victims’ families the forgiveness that heals. Give wisdom to lawmakers and to those who judge. Instill prudence and patience in those who guard. Make those in prison ministry bearers of your light, for all of us are in need of your mercy! Amen
Community Development - We engage directly in communities and apartment complexes for the sole purpose of building relationships and, thus, building community. This features about 4 events per year sponsored by CFC Local Outreach but a great deal of opportunity to volunteer year-round for the betterment of the community and to share God's love.
Food Pantry - We do two major food drives per year. The first one typically takes place during the lent season leading up to Easter and benefits the work of Loudoun Hunger Relief. This is strategic in that just after the pantry's shelves are empty leading into Easter we, thru God's people fill the shelves!
The second food drive is part of the Backpack Buddies program which benefits children right here in Loudoun County thru our school partnerships. Backpack Buddies is a program to feed students who largely depend on school lunches as their primary food source. About 1 in 4 school children in Loudoun County are uncertain where their next meal will come from. The program provides food items such as cereal, fruit cups, soup, and snack bars that can be prepared by children when they are home alone.
We also are involved in homeless shelters, medical services, sports programs, and much more!
